This one time class will examine the life and work of American Artist and illustrator, Edward Gorey. Known for his distinct style and use of detail, fans of all things Gothic will resonate with this approach to drawing. The class will begin in an instructional manner, as we work our way through the Artist’s biography, techniques, and body of work. Students will learn about the artist and his work, while practicing his signature drawing style. Through group discussions and visual thinking strategies, participants will discover ways to incorporate these techniques into their own drawing styles.

At the conclusion of class, students will have detailed and stylized drawings modeled after Edward Gorey. They will experiment with the exact techniques used by the artist, and then try these strategies in their own personal styleGrades Offered
