PLEASE NOTE: Some sections of this class are 1 time per week and some are 2 times per week (per parent request). PLEASE CHECK DATES. Students in the class will work side by side with the teacher to learn how to code characters in code.org. Each class will focus on a coding concept which included sequences, loops and conditionals. Class 1- We will do a brief offline activity about sequences using a google slides activity. The kids will interact by annotating on my screen. Then each student will log into code.org and begin to work on coding puzzles which require the sequence skill. Class 2 - We will do a brief offline activity to learn about looping. The students will work as a team to create a dance that includes loops. We will all do the dance together to learn what loops are. Then each student will log into code.org and begin to work on coding puzzles which require the loop skill. Class 3 - We will do an offline activity to learn about conditionals by playing a game together using google slides. Then each student will log into code.org and begin to work on coding puzzles which require the conditionals skill. Before class ends, we will discuss the ending project so that the students can be successful in creating their own dance party project. Class 4- Each student will have the opportunity to share their game by telling how to play it and sharing the link with me. I will then share a google slide that introduces other activities that will take coding skills further.

I have been teaching on Outschool since April of 2020 and am an elementary school educator who knows how to create hands on activities which empower thriving children of all ages.
I specialize in providing a vast variety of hands on activities that promote the value of social and emotional intelligence as well as the importance of showing children their potential. There is not always a right answer in learning, children thrive in all different ways and I find great joy in helping them discover their gifts and talents.
Over the course of 25 years in the classroom, I have taught 1st grade, kindergarten through 3rd grade media literacy classes, and kindergarten through 5th grade computer application classes. I have also tutored kindergarten through 5th grade students in all subject areas and am TESOL certified. I am an advocate for children and believe in helping them to reach their potential, while understanding all of our minds think differently. Being able to discover how each person finds success is such a gift.
I am a proud owner of Boomer, my Labrador Retriever. He loves to be by me all the time and wants to be part of my teaching. Pets bring such joy and unconditional love, that it just seems natural to involve him in my classes. He has a lot to teach and learn!33 total ratings, 19 with reviews
