This class does not require homework but It can be given upon request from the students or their ParentsClass Experience
In this weekly ongoing, interactive class, students will learn and develop their coding skills through puzzles and creative projects. This class features fun, colorful characters who need code directions to perform game-like tasks, find their way through a maze or draw a picture. Learners will drag and drop various command blocks (ex: move forward, turn left, turn right, repeat, collect, start, stop, set the background, set size, if/else, while/when, etc.) to guide the characters through each puzzle or to design a project. During each class session, I will coach each learner on the puzzle set or project they choose to work on and help build their understanding of core concepts such as sequencing, loops (repeats), sprites, events, conditionals, and functions. **NOTE: Everyone learns to code at their own unique pace and speed. Learners are encouraged to work on the Code.org puzzle sets and/or projects at the pace that feels comfortable to them. By nature of an ongoing class, all learners will likely be working on different and individualized coding activities in each class. **WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS CLASS?: - Students with previous coding experience who want to develop their skills and learn more creative ways to design with code - Students with no coding experience (or very little) who want to learn the basics and continue practicing each week. **REQUIRED SKILLS: - Able to use a computer mouse/trackpad fluently - Able to read and follow written directions on the screen (audio directions also available) **TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS: - A laptop or desktop computer is REQUIRED for coding in this class. (No tablets, please!)
Learning Goals
Students will learn the basics of code by solving a variety of drag-and-drop block coding puzzles with fun, colorful characters to learn the coding skills of sequencing, loops/repeats, and events

Parental Guidance
In my class, we are going to use third part websites to write and test our code such as scratch, Trinket, Code.org, Code academy (the choice of website will depend your choice of topic). For that purpose the student will be required to create an account on the website . Please make sure the student has a valid email address for the accounts and make a note of their email and password combination with you so we do not loose their progress. Instruction will be provided in class to make and manage these said accounts accordingly
Students at this young age very often need adult assistance using a computer. Since this is a virtual, online class, the teacher is obviously not present in the same room as the learner. The parent/guardian MUST be available during the entire class time to partner with the teacher and assist the learner as needed - setting up devices, logging in, finding the correct puzzles in the menu. Please expect to be at your learner’s side (off-camera) for the first 5-10 minutes of class to make sure they understand how to get started. If you see the learner is able to work independently with the teacher’s instructions, feel free to leave the room after 5-10 minutes. Please continue to be available in your home in case the learner needs to ask questions. PDF instructions will be sent to parents after enrolling explaining how to set up devices for the learner.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Taught by Usama Puri
I have a bachelor's degree in AI and Machine Learning and am currently working towards my master's degree. I love to teach coding to children and introduce them to the world of programming and logic building. I learned to code at a very early age and the best part about my childhood was to brainstorm and create fun logic games using simple codes and blocks. I wanna give to experience to my students.
