Class Experience
Overview: In this one-on-one (or two-on-one but send me a message if that is the case) ongoing class students will learn how to code on Python through project based learning in Minecraft Education Edition. This means we will have an objective for the week that we will be coding (world building) as well as having fun in Minecraft! This ongoing class is meant for beginners who want to learn Python while playing Minecraft in a stress free environment. The students will be immersed in the Minecraft world where we will use Python to learn some programming fundamentals. Topics covered: Variables & Expressions - Remember data and save values Operators - Operations to change and compare values Control Structures - Elements of code that take action Sequencing - Ordering statements in code Functions & Function calls - Portions of code to call and use repeatedly Classes - Contain related data and operations together Event and Event Handling - Notifying others that something of interest has happened and handling said event And more.. EXPERIENCE: No coding experience is required. No Minecraft experience is required. REQUIREMENTS: This class uses Minecraft Education Edition. Please make sure to download and install it prior to enrolling in the class. Available for Windows, Chromebook, Mac and iPad (other tablets are not supported). Two devices work best, one for coding on Minecraft and another for viewing Zoom. Please make sure to check your system requirements and installation before booking a class. I will provide you the login details. You can download it here: https://education.minecraft.net/en-us/get-started/download Teacher Expertise: We want our students to have fun while learning! Our teachers combine software expertise with experience working with young learners in diverse educational settings, including schools and summer camps! Message Response Time: Messages are typically answered within 48 hours. Attendance and Refund Policy: Missed classes, regardless of the reason, are not eligible for refunds. This policy ensures fairness to our teachers as well as all students, as once a spot is taken, it cannot be filled by another student. Additionally, teachers will only wait for 10 minutes in the classroom for students to join; if the student or family does not notify the teacher of their lateness beforehand and the student does not arrive within this time, the teacher will close out the class. Please note that we do not reschedule classes due to missed sessions.
