Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a certified English and Theater educator with over three years of classroom experience working with middle and high school students in both traditional and virtual learning environments. My teaching philosophy centers on student voice, creativity, and confidence-building—making theater a natural fit for the way I teach.
I earned a Master’s degree in Secondary English Education, and during my undergraduate studies, I focused heavily on the interdisciplinary connection between literature, storytelling, and performance. My academic and teaching work has always emphasized helping students develop self-expression and collaboration skills through writing, reading, and performance.
I’ve directed and co-directed student plays, led school talent shows, and integrated dramatic performance into ELA classes through creative assignments like:
Reader’s theater scripts
Modernized Shakespeare scenes
Original student-written skits and short plays
In addition to my classroom teaching, I’ve taught creative writing and literacy enrichment camps during the summer, where students often performed original monologues or skits for families.
Outside the classroom, I have personal experience in community theater, having performed in local productions and assisted with backstage roles like prop coordination and line prompting.
I’ve worked with children and teens ages 10–17 in a variety of settings:
Middle and high school classrooms (grades 6–12)
Small group writing and acting workshops
After-school programs focused on literacy and expression
I’m deeply committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and joyful space where all students feel supported in trying new things, taking creative risks, and celebrating their progress.
