Class Experience
Research shows that 84% of words in the English language are decodable. Why not teach children to decode, or read, using decodable readers? In each of the three sessions, students will use decodable readers to practice blending consonant-vowel-consonant-silent e (CVCe) pattern words through phonics instruction. Students will learn to decode or read CVCe pattern words with an emphasis on a different long vowel each week using decodable readers.
Homework will be assigned as requested by parents.
Construction paper and various art materials.
The students will be informally assessed on how well they read the decodable readers.
40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
