Hi! Thank you for checking out my class! I am so excited that you are here! I am a certified occupational therapy assistant and work with children daily on their fine motor and handwriting skills to increase their academic success. In this class your child will learn and review all of the basic writing mechanics such as where to start at the margin, staying on the lines, proper letter formation, sizing, spacing, etc! All of this will be broken down based on your learners current handwriting level and don't worry I will make it fun and exciting by creating stories and using social games. I love to use mad libs with the kids and the stories always turn out wild and crazy! I currently work with children daily on their handwriting skills and have plenty of tricks up my sleeves! You will be provided with highlighted paper to use for this class which will increase your child's boundary awareness as well as a variety hand strengthening exercises you can do at home to increase handwriting endurance. This class will provide great insight for your learner in a fun way to increase their success at home and in the classroom by teaching them new handwriting skills that will be remembered long term. This class will be an ongoing class where learners will review hand exercises and handwriting rules in the beginning of each class and participate in a handwriting activity that will follow along with the rules and exercises; so students may join or leave at any time without the need of any catching up.
Learning Goals
Your student learn the following:
-Starting and ending sentences, appropriately using the margins
-Capitalization and punctuation
-Remaining on lines and within given boundaries
-Appropriate letter formation
-Proper spacing between letters and words
-Pencil grasp adaptations (if needed)
