Description
Class Experience
In this private tutoring class, your child will learn proper letter formation, letter placement, appropriate letter sizing, and “handwriting rules.” Each learner’s class will be tailored for their needs. Parents will have the opportunity to communicate their child’s needs and provide a work sample to the teacher once registered for the class. I like to use a multi-sensory approach with teaching to help learners better grasp and retain information. I teach through songs, games, use of hands on...
Learners will receive one-on-one instruction in handwriting.
I am trained as an Occupational Therapist and I have worked with children in the school setting, as well as in the clinic. Many times, I see children struggling with handwriting whether they have a disability or not. It can be because they are uninterested, they have hand weakness, or because they simply have not learned proper formation. This private tutoring class focuses on teaching proper letter formation, letter placement, sizing, and handwriting rules. While I am an Occupational Therapist, this tutoring class is not a therapy session. If your child has severe weakness or apparent development delays, it is best to speak with your pediatrician to determine the best options for them.
Parents can provide their child's work sample prior to class to communicate areas to focus on during tutoring. Please have a pencil, paper, play-dough, and a dry erase board with markers. If learner is taking multiple one-on-one classes, they may be given a workbook/worksheets to print off and work on with the teacher during tutoring.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
No formal assessment.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
