In popular animated movies, the prince slays the dragon, villains never win, true love conquers all, and everyone lives happily ever after. Stories like Cinderella, Snow White, and Hansel and Gretel have been told for years, but the versions many know and love today are a far cry from the earlier versions.

In this one-time class, I will take students on a humorous and shocking journey through the original versions of some of the world's most popular fairy tales. I will use a self-made PowerPoint sprinkled with pictures, videos, pop quiz questions, and discussion questions to keep class fun and interactive. With help from the class, I will recount the versions that most students currently know, and then we will begin to contrast this with earlier and more bizarre, funny, and dark versions of these tales. 

We will discuss these well-known tales:

Cinderella
The Little Mermaid
Snow White 
The Frog Prince
Hansel and Gretel
