Uke Can Do It: Ukulele Summer Camp Part 1

This class is for young musicians who have never played ukulele before.  We will start from the very beginning by learning the parts of the instrument and how to tune the instrument.  By the end of this class, students will learn four of the most common ukulele chords that will allow them to play hundreds of songs: C, F, Am, and G.



Day 1:
- Students will learn the parts of the ukulele, how to hold the ukulele, how to tune the ukulele, and how to strum.  Students will learn how to read a chord chart and play their first chord: C.
- Students will learn how to play “Are You Sleeping” and “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”.

Day 2:
- Students will review prior content, learn a new strumming pattern, and two new chords: Am and F.
- Students will learn how to play “London Bridge is Falling Down”.

Day 3:
- Students will review prior content, learn a new strumming pattern, and one new chord: G.  
- Students will learn how to play “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” and will practice playing the “Pop Chord Progression”.

Day 4:
- Students will review prior content and learn a new strumming pattern.
- Students will learn how to play “You Are My Sunshine” and “SpongeBob Square Pants Theme Song”.

At the end of each class, students will be provided with all the play-along tracks used in class for practice outside of class.

Students will learn how to tune their ukuleles during the first class.  Please tune your ukulele prior to all subsequent classes.
