Because this is a one on one class, I will individualize the lesson to the unique student. We will learn some fun songs that they can learn step by step. This is a relaxed, casual class, with a focus on the student. 

I welcome learners of all identities and backgrounds into my classes. 


They will learn basic techniques and be able to play some songs. If they enjoy singing, we can do some songs that they can learn to sing along with. If they prefer to play and not sing, that is fine too. 

I will send a link to the parent for Uke Buddy online tuner, so you can have the instrument tuned ahead of time. 

I love seeing the learner light up, when they are able to play a song. I value each student and believe in music as a way of increasing confidence and self esteem. 

The student will learn to play a few songs that they will have fun showing off. 
They will learn how to read ukelele tablature, so that they will understand the song sheets and be able to play them on their own. 

This is a participation class, so the student will do a lot of hands on playing during the class. 
My teaching style is relaxed , fun and casual, with a focus on learning. 
I individualize my lessons to each unique learner, based on their learning style and musical interests. 

The student is welcome to suggest a song that they would like to learn in a future lesson. I 
This is a music class that will go over some basic rhythms and playing with a steady beat, to the tempo. 

This class is engaging, and I will cater to the unique needs of the student, based on their level and musical interests.

My teaching style is relaxed and casual, with an emphasis on enjoying music. 
This lesson is designed to spark an interest in the student, for music and learning to play the ukelele. 

If the student takes this same class again, we will continue where we left off in the previous class. You can take this class as many times as you like.  I also have a 30 minute lesson option, as well as three week sessions.
Learning Goals
To give the student some experience playing the ukelele and getting comfortable with strumming. 
To introduce the student to a couple of basic, beginner chords, depending on their age and level. 
To practice playing on the individual strings and alternating between the strings. 
Practicing basic strumming. 
The student will be able to hold the ukelele correctly.
They will understand what each of the hands do, when playing chords. 
They will be able to strum some basic, beginner rhythm patterns.

Parental Guidance
Third Party Tools - Uke Buddy online tuner YouTube I will ask that you tune the ukelele before class. I recommend Uke Buddy online tuner. I will send the link for you, to your Outschool messages. You can also use an electronic tuner, if you have one. Please message me, if you have any questions about Uke Buddy or tuning the ukelele. Occasionally I may play a song that we are going to learn, on YouTube. This is to give the student a feel for the beat of the song and how the song goes, before we learn it.

Since May of 2020, I have been an Outschool teacher. 
I have 20+ years experience, as a music teacher.  I have taught piano, electric keyboard, guitar, and general music classes, in both the classroom and private settings. 
I was head of the music department at a private high  school in Maryland. 
I taught private piano and guitar lessons at a guitar shop, for 5 years, in addition to my own private students in my studio. 
My bachelor's degree is in music education, from Towson University, plus graduate studies in music education.
