I am so excited to offer this class as it is one of my favorites since I was little! Over the course students will meet twice a week. Students will learn through short lectures to introduce topics. The class will be very interactive with games and team work to reinforce the topics we are studying. During each class we will read together (some reading may be assigned for homework) and check for understanding through a comprehension check (quiz/game/other activity). We will also introduce the topics of Prediction, Problem Solving, Compare/Contrast, and Fact vs Opinion. Students will have Journal Writing assignments and a Final Project due the last class. Sample Schedule: Week 1: Author, Background, Setting, Point of View, Character Types, Vocab & Spelling Week 2: Plot, Comprehension, Vocab & Spelling, Predictions, Fact vs Opinion Week 3: Plot, Comprehension, Vocab & Spelling, Compare/Contrast, Problem Solving Week 4: Plot, Comprehension, Vocab & Spelling, Test, Final Project Due
