Learners will gain a better understanding about this magical butterfly, it's migration path, and plants it depends upon to live and grow.
Class experience
Introducing the magical and beautiful monarch butterfly, fun facts, what they eat, and how far they migrate through a slideshow and online, fun, interactive worksheets. The monarch's population has dropped 90% and we can do simple things to help the butterfly survive and in migration (plant milkweed). We will discuss migration, and how 60 million to one billion monarch butterflies make the journey, spanning more than 2,500 miles, from North America to Mexico. We will identify and label the...
Learners will understand the monarch is an insect, identify the body parts and what they can do (antennae), where they migrate and why, and what can be done to help the monarch butterfly multiply.
Learners will NOT need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools. "Raise hand" - Zoom offers a way for students to digitally raise their hands. Students can click the ‘Participants‘ button to expand the participants panel. At the bottom of this panel, there is a button called “raise hand.” Students can use this button to get my attention if they are muted. We mute the class because there is often times feedback from different mics and noises in the background that can make it a challenge to hear clearly. Headsets work well, but not required. A quiet background, a quiet place in home, truly helps all who are in the class to hear and is super-duper appreciated.
