Class Experience

Students will learn first position, tendu, pile, sashay, and releve! By practicing these steps, students will also be learning how to improve skills like balance, coordination, and rhythm. In class, I want my students to feel encouraged and confident in trying new things even if they do not get a skill right on the first attempt.
I have been teaching dance for six years. I was a dancer for 16 years and trained competitively in several styles of dance. I love getting to share my passion for dance with younger dancers.
There is no homework for this class. I hope you continue to practice your newly learned steps!
If you have ballet shoes, please wear them to class. If you do not have ballet shoes, no need to worry no shoes are fine! Ballerinas may wear socks if they are on carpet, but socks are NOT recommended on the wood/tile floor as it can make movement extra slippery. Ballet shoes or no shoes is best on wood/tile flooring. Dancers can wear a leotard and skirt, or any clothes that are easy to move in. Please find a safe, open space for dancers to take class to ensure they can move freely and are away from any hazardous objects. A small stuffed animal, tiara, or magical wand can be set out close by the dancer to use during freeze dance at the end of class. A fun item to use with freeze dance is optional and not required!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Due to ballet being a movement-based class, it is always encouraged to have a parent or guardian nearby. Dance is a type of physical activity. Your registration for this class ensures you understand that Outschool nor I are responsible for any injury that may occur during or from class. Please have your dancer take ballet class in an open space where they have room to move.
