Each Ballet with Miss Jamie class begins with the “question of the day.” Then, we will warm up and stretch our bodies to prepare for dancing. Each week we focus on different age-appropriate ballet positions, footwork, jumps and steps. We will use the movements learned in class to create short dance combinations and play dance games to increase musicality, balance and strength. We always finish class with curtsies and show and tell! You are welcome to join the class at any time. No previous dance experience is required. This class is inclusive and can be adapted for all learners. Please message me before class so I can adapt the class material if needed. Each class includes a variety of ballet steps with a focus on these movements: Week of Oct 6 - NO CLASS Week of Oct 13 - Passe & Arabesque Week of Oct 20 - Skating & Pique Week of Oct 27 - Saute & March Week of Nov 3 - Skip & Echappe Week of Nov 10 - Passe Walk & Gallop Week of Nov 17 - Step Kick & Cat Step Week of Nov 24 - Dancing with a Prop Week of Dec 1 - Ballet Posture & Curtsy Week of Dec 8 - Plies & Tendu Week of Dec 15 - Releve & Bouree Walks There are 10 weeks of lessons which will repeat after the 10th lesson. Repetition is important at this age, so your child may join for more than one rotation if they wish (questions of the week and dance games rotate through two cycles) or switch to Fairytale weekly ballet. Sibling and financial hardship discounts: If you would like to enroll an additional child, I offer $5 off the weekly price for each additional child sent as a refund after each class. Please send me a message to request this discount. If you are experiencing financial hardship and want to enroll your child in this class, please send me a message. // Other class options // If your child likes fairytales and dressing up, I offer a similar weekly Fairytale Beginner Ballet class. // MUTING // I will mute your child when music is playing so there is no strange audio feedback. I may need to mute your learner at other times if there is any background noise. Your child can unmute themselves to ask questions at the start and end of the class or during water breaks. Please be aware that they may need some help. They will have to accept the “unmute” on their screen. //ON-SCREEN SAFETY// Only the registered learner is allowed to be on screen as per the Outschool safety policy. Caregivers, older/younger siblings and adults should try to stay off the screen as much as possible for the learners’ safety. If you need to help your child with the mute or unmute button, please try to stay off to the side. //SIBLINGS// Enrolled siblings are allowed to share a screen as long as they are both registered for the class in order to be fair to the other learners. //REFUNDS AND TRANSFERS// This class follows Outschool's standard refund policy for weekly classes: "Cancel anytime. No refunds for past payments. Most recent payment can be refunded within 24 hours of purchase and prior to the first meeting of the payment period." Transfers: If you need to transfer BEFORE the class starts, please send me a transfer request and I will do my best to accommodate it. Refunds: I DO NOT provide refunds for missed classes. If you know your child needs to miss a class, you can pause their subscription. If you miss a class because of an unplanned absence or illness, you can request the class recording. Due to Outschool policy, it may not be possible to share the recording if there are unverified learners signed up for the class who do not attend that week. This is to protect the safety of all learners. **I teach from Australia so please check the time carefully (AM OR PM) when signing up.** If you have any questions, please send me a message! ~ Miss Jamie

Parental Guidance
Please provide a space that has enough space for your child to dance safely. Your dancer should wear comfortable clothing and have a water bottle nearby. Please mention any injuries prior to the class so I can modify the moves as needed. For child safety reasons, your dancer needs to be wearing a top and bottoms at all times. If they want to wear a leotard or one piece swimsuit, make sure they have shorts or a skirt.
Zoom muting/unmuting: I will mute students during dancing so everyone can hear the music and my voice. Your child can unmute themself to ask questions at the start and end of the class or during water breaks, so please be aware that they may need some help. They will have to accept the “unmute” on their screen.
By signing up for this class you understand that dance, like any physical activity, involves some risk and take responsibility for any physical injury which occurs during class.
