Dance With Me is an ongoing ballet class for the beginner/intermediate ballet dancer. This class meets once a week for 30 minutes, and will teach your little dancer the basics of ballet dance and beyond. Each class will begin with a Welcome Time, then move to a Warm up & Stretch, we will continue to Center Floor and Across the Floor movement, and end with practicing a Dance Combination. Music and movement will always be age and level appropriate. Class Content: Classes may include, but are not limited to, a combination of the following movement and technique: Plie, Tendu, Posse, Pique, Coupe, Developpe, Eschappe, 1st Arabesque, 2nd Arabesque, 3rd Arabesque, basic positions of the body, 5 positions of the feet and arms, Chase, Grapevine, Bourree, Pas de Bourree, Balance, Chaine, Tip Toe Turn, Glissade, Leaps and more Class Outline: -- Welcome: Learners will be greeted. Each learner will get to answer 1 question posed by the teacher. (ie. What is one great thing you did today? What is your favorite animal? What do you like best about...., etc.) -- Warm up and Stretch -- Movement and Technique for Center floor and Across the floor -- Practice Dance Combination -- If time Allows, Share Time. Learners will be able to share about ONE item, or they can share their favorite dance move from that day's lesson. Due to the nature of the class, after our Welcome Time, the teacher will mute learners during class instruction. That way each learner has the optimum learning environment. Therefore, learners will need to be able to unmute themselves during Share Time. If learners are unable to unmute themselves, please be sure to be nearby during the last 5 minutes of class to help support your learner. Learning Goals
Students will learn basic and intermediate ballet dance terminology and movement while dancing to fun and familiar songs. We will practice balance, flexibility, and coordination skills. Most of all we will have FUN!
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Please create a space that is open and large enough for your dancer to move, dance, jump and glide without bumping into things. Learners should wear comfortable clothing that they can easily move in. Ballet attire is encourage, but not required. Learners should either wear ballet shoes or have bare feet. Please no socks, as dancers can easily slip while wearing them. Learners may keep a water bottle nearby and take sips and needed. Please let your learner know that they may use the bathroom as needed and do not need to ask permission from the teacher to go. Due to the nature of the class, after our Welcome Time, the teacher will mute learners during class instruction. That way each learner has the optimum learning environment. Therefore, learners will need to be able to unmute themselves during Share Time. Teacher expertise and credentials
Miss Amy loves teaching students of all ages! She has had the privilege of teaching dancers as young as 2 and as old as 82. As a teacher, Amy's focus is to inspire young people to pursue their love of the arts by increasing youth education in dance and musical theater as a way to express oneself and build confidence. She teaches classes in ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, creative movement, musical theater dance, and acting. Amy regularly holds Master Classes and Workshops in Audition Techniques, as well as summer camps where students can come to learn, love and grow as they experience dance, sometimes for the first time.
Miss Amy is a teaching artist, choreographer, director, and performer based out of North Texas. She received her Masters Degree from Texas Woman's University, and her Bachelors Degree from the University of North Texas, with an emphasis on Dance, Theater and Music. Amy has taught many places, including private dance studios, arts academies, charter schools and universities. She also is the owner and instructor of Crescendo School of Dance, as well as a freelance choreographer throughout the DFW area.
In her personal life, Miss Amy lives in Texas with her husband and brand new baby boy! She is excited to begin her journey into motherhood and can't wait to start dancing with her own little one!
