In this 1 Week (Monday - Friday) class students will learn about Salvador Dali and create work inspired by his. We will view a short slideshow (see link below) and talk about Surrealism. *Students need to be within the stated age range this class is aimed at please. 1st class: We will look at "Persistence of Memory" and create our own piece with melting eggs 2nd class: We will look at "The Elephants" and create our own mixed up animal elephant piece 3rd class: We will look at his numerous portraits with his mustache styled in a variety of ways. We will draw a self portrait and include a Dali mustache. 4th class: We will look at his "Rose Butterfly" and create a similar piece featuring a flower with butterflies for wings 5th class: Dali returned to Realism towards the end of his life so we will look at "Figure At A Window" and create our own version with a touch of Surrealism We will look at Dali and kid friendly work here: https://www.slideshare.net/AliceFernndz/salvador-dali-for-kids This is a guided drawing class, however students are encouraged to be creative in how they depict their background and choice of colors. Note: Please do not use printer/copy paper...children are disappointed when their work is floppy and doesn't hold up to painting. If you are unable to get a watercolor pad then mixed media would be another choice. A drawing paper pad, though not meant for painting could work as the paper is a little sturdier.
