Algebra 2 Concepts - Summer Camp
What's included
8 live meetings
6 in-class hoursClass Experience
US Grade 7 - 10
When students understand the conceptual foundations of Algebra 2, learning problems and formulas becomes logical and students tend to progress at a faster pace with greater confidence. This course provides an in-depth overview of key foundational concepts needed to be successful in Algebra 2. It is designed as a preparation course for students entering Algebra 2, or as a review of Algebra 2 for students entering upper level math. The class meets for eight 45 minute sessions over 2 weeks. This boot camp teaches a strong understanding of Algebra 2 concepts and will prepare students for success in the full course. We will focus on the “why” of equations, formulas, and properties, as well as spend time “proving” concepts in class. During the final session, students will be given a certificate of completion for "Algebra 2 Concepts - A Summer Boot Camp" and are now prepared to succeed in their semester or full year Algebra 2 or Advanced Mathematics course!

Lesson 2:
FRACTIONAL EXPONENTS AND RATIONAL EXPRESSIONS
This session will focus on fractional exponents and rational expressions as a foundation for learning to solve more complex problems presented in Algebra 2.
45 mins online live lesson
Lesson 3:
WORKING WITH RADICALS
In session 3, students will review adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing radicals, and new methods for simplifying radicals and rationalizing denominators. This is an interactive session where students will be applying concepts learned in class to assist with understanding in preparation for the following sessions.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver
I have been teaching math for 24 years. My experience ranges from practical math to Algebra, Geometry and beyond. Teaching students with IEPs and special needs has helped me become a better instructor by learning to effectively teach students with different learning styles.
Math is like a foreign language when it is first introduced to students. As students progress into Pre-Algebra and beyond, the language of math becomes complex with words and symbols they have never seen before. My teaching style emphasizes concepts and proofs along with facts and formulas.
I believe learning concepts along with facts and formulas is the bridge to success. Students’ confidence increases significantly when they can apply a formula and actually understand what is being taught. My greatest reward comes when a student's eyes light up because they finally “get it”! Math is Fun!
