Welcome to the Esports: Rocket League course, where your child will learn the skills, strategies, and tips to become a pro Rocket League player! This program is designed for kids in grades 4-10 who are interested in taking their gaming skills to the next level. In this student-centered learning environment, learners will collaborate with each other in project-based activities to develop their skills in the game. The course duration is five weeks, with one hour-long class meeting each week. Throughout the course, your child will explore various organizational strategies to use when competing against other teams. They will learn to be a member of a team to solve STEM and academic problems and solve competitive building problems. They will also learn to use game design, coding, and engineering to solve problems. Day by Day, the course curriculum is structured as follows: Day 1: Introduction to Rocket League and esports, Explanation of the game mechanics, Exploration of the different modes of play, Discussion of eSports tournaments and the competitive scene Day 2: Organizational Strategies : Techniques for effective communication with team members, Planning and organizing strategies for in-game decision making, Preparation for competition Day 3: Teamwork and Collaboration: How to be a productive team member, Strategies for conflict resolution, Team-building exercises Day 4: Competitive Building Problems: Strategies for overcoming obstacles in the game, Creative problem-solving exercises, Analysis of successful building strategies Day 5: Game Design, Coding, and Engineering: Introduction to game design and coding concepts, Application of these concepts in Rocket League, Exploring different paths for careers in game development and esports A teacher's goal is to make learning fun and interactive. Your child will have plenty of opportunities to interact with both teachers and their peers. The class meetings will be a mixture of lecture, games, slides, video clips, and discussion. Learners do not need any prior experience or knowledge in Rocket League or esports, as the course is designed for beginners. By the end of this course, your child will have developed the skills and strategies needed to compete in Rocket League at a higher level. They will have gained experience in collaboration and communication, as well as an understanding of game design, coding, and engineering concepts. We will be using Rocket League. A high-powered hybrid gaming experience featuring arcade-style soccer action. You will need to download Rocket League for FREE on one of the following devices: Windows 8, 10 or 11, or PlayStation 4, or Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch. You will need another device to participate in this program.
