Class Experience
SUMMER BREAK SESSION NOTE: I will refund for weeks families are on vacation - please notify me by Sunday that fee is paid. This hands-on class will use art and experiments to teach a brief overview of science standards. Each 2- to 3-day theme will use videos, books, simple worksheets (not a lot of writing), art and experiments to teach an overview of the main concept for that particular standard. Depending on the age of your child, this class will either be a great review or...
Review or introduce grades 1 & 2 science standards.
I have helped children for the past 19 years - 11 were working in a school which specializes in high functioning autism (there were "typical" students there as well.) Throughout my experiences as an art therapist and then as a special education teacher, I have seen that children learn best when engaged in hands-on acitivities. They tend to retain information much more effectively when enaged in active learning. Besides learning the science standards, the focus for students in this class will be on actively participating.
Parents can decide if their learner needs extra time to work on their projects in between the weekly classes or after the last class if the project is not complete.
