Beginner - Advanced Level
Grades K through 3 are so crucial when it comes to mastering the foundational skills for reading. The Big 5 Literacy skills (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension) build upon each other to give your child the best success when learning how to read. Mastery in these five areas (plus writing and oral language) give your child the best chance of succeeding once they get to middle and high school. Learning how to read, write and comprehend do not come naturally to all children but engaging in interventions early on give students the best chance. I have seen amazing things happen during on-going 1:1 or small group extra tutoring.

I am a reading specialist who was trained in Orton-Gillingham as well as have taught students with reading disabilities for 15 years. Due to the high demand, I then coached teachers on how to best teach students how to read during small group settings. I am passionate about the success of early readers because it sets the stage for when they are in higher grades. The entire reason we read is to gather information (comprehend) - for fun and learning - and it excites me when I am able to help a struggling reader do better.
