* Please note, this is a self-paced class with pre-recorded lessons. There are no live meetings. This is a great class for busy parents and students who need the flexibility to work on assignments. This is similar to my live class, however this class goes into much more detail regarding the different states and their capitals. This also allows learners to have further detailed discussions during the 5 weeks that we normally would not have time for in a timed live class. In each lesson we will learn the States, the capital of each state, where they are on the map and fun facts about each state. Students will learn about geography, landmarks, wildlife, and the agriculture of each state. Learners will receive worksheets that will include fun review games to see what they learned as well as help reinforce where the states are on the map. Each week discussion questions/topics will be posted for students to discuss one interesting fact about each region or of a state of their choosing. Students are encouraged to be active in the classroom main page and share which state they live in (not their address), what states they have visited and where they have family. We will be using Nearpod & Boom learning in conjunction with Outschool as an interactive approach to making this a fun and great learning experience! Each week, students will receive a Nearpod link that will include instructions, along with the games, videos and discussion questions. Parents, you will need an account (which is free) in order to access this resource. Nearpod is used as a tool to house the slideshow presentation, ask learners about their knowledge of the states and capitals, and this is where learners will play matching games as well. **Please note that Parental Consent is required in order to use Nearpod in this class. I will provide parents with a detailed document to explain how both programs are used to ensure that your experience is as smooth as possible! I also use BOOM Learning Cards to help students practice between classes. Discussion questions/topics will be posted on Sunday evening of each week along with a video in the classroom to ensure an interactive class.

I believe there is a lot of important and fun facts to learn about the United States. The different regions have an interesting and important history of their own and offer amazing facts on their landscape and culture. I have traveled through a lot of the U.S and have been able to experience some of what this country has to offer and I have a strong desire to see more of it. I am offering this class to share my knowledge and excitement to see other parts of the country and to allow learners from different backgrounds to discuss what they love about the United States of America.
