In this one time interactive course, students will learn, in five easy steps, how to make their writing sparkle. Starting with a very basic sentence, we will work to expand the sentence as a class through brainstorming and discussion. We will begin by adding an adjective, and use this as an opportunity to review what an adjective is. As the lesson progresses, students will also review the definition a noun and a verb. We will continue to make the sentence sparkle by answering "when", "where", "how", and "why". Your learner will then have fun creating their own sentence(s) under the teacher's guidance. Each learner will have the option to share their sparkled sentence with the class. Prior to class, each learner will receive a graphic organizer. They can write their sentence using the graphic organizer or their own paper. This is a sentence writing class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
“What do you want to be when you grow up?” they asked.
“A Teacher!” I exclaimed.
This has always been my impassioned response to this question from the moment I was old enough to speak.
Hello! I am Miss Ashley, and I am so excited to meet your student! Ever since I was a little one, I have always wanted to be a teacher. Teaching is my passion.
I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education and Psychology with a minor in Special Education. I am dual certified in Elementary Education and Special Education in the states of New Jersey, Montana, and Florida. My experiences lie in the public and private school systems spanning kindergarten through fifth grade and the online setting in grades K-12. With over a decade of experience, I have taught in the general education, special education, and inclusion classroom settings. I have served on the curriculum writing teams for Writer's Workshop, math, and science. On these teams, I developed detailed lessons, selected and developed coordinating materials, and aided in creating a scope and sequence. While educating little ones in the brick and mortar school, I began teaching ESL online. In the last three years, I have done small and whole classroom teaching online and just ended my fifth year of online education as a whole class instructor where I video in live to a classroom for the entire day.
Whether in the classroom or online, I strive to improve and innovate to address each learning style in my classroom. I believe in a hands on minds on approach to learning. If a student is able to interact with a lesson, they will remain engaged in the lesson. I aim to make each lesson inclusive of all students and their learning style to enrich their individual learning experience. I will combine my experience and passion to create and offer a variety of elementary academic classes including writing, math, and reading. I want to guide students in becoming passionate readers, creative writers, inquisitive scientists, analytical historians, and studious mathematicians during their online academic journey.
I am a high energy teacher, and it is my honor and responsibility to ensure my students are as excited about learning as I am about teaching.
I look forward to getting to know your child and being part of their academic journey.
I hope you are ready to have fun while learning!
-Ms. Ashley
