This class is taught in English.
Learners will be able to identify simple, compound, and complex sentences and be able to punctuate them correctly. They will also be able to identify subject, verbs, coordinating conjunctions, and subordinating conjunctions and use them to create various sentence structures in their own sentence writing.
I've taught English for over 25 years in various settings, plus I've been a home school mom for the past 14 years. I have seen many, many students lack a good knowledge of sentence writing, and it really begins to show when they get to high school (and higher levels) as they struggle with writing papers and essays. Middle school is an ideal age to use the language and writing skills that they know and begin to form good habits with writing. It's a great, practical life skill to learn now in order to achieve writing success!
Practice worksheets and assignments involving reading, writing, and identification will be assigned each class. Homework is always due by 5 p.m. CST the day BEFORE the next class.
Teacher will provide all worksheets. In addition to Outschool classroom, students will need to have a designated folder, notebook paper, pencil, eraser, and a photo/scanner application.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learner progress will be assessed via homework, participation, and attendance. Grades are available upon parent's request.
