2 live meetings
1 hrs 30 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
This ongoing class meets twice a week and will teach learners how to confidently sing stories. In each class students will learn a little about techniques such as breath control, diction, rhythm, confidence and storytelling through music. At the end of class students can pick from a list of kid-friendly songs and have their own karaoke party as they find ways to implement what they’ve learned. The main focus of this course is finding fun and joy in singing/rapping and celebrating each individual’s voice. I want learners to walk away feeling empowered to use their voice to tell a story through a song. 1. Week of <5/29>: Breath Control 2. Week of <6/5>: Diction 3. Week of <6/12>: Rhythm 4. Week of <6/19>: Storytelling

Each student should walk away with a basic understanding of what breath control, diction, rhythm, confidence and storytelling are, and how to use them to tell a story through song.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Ina Williams is a Savannah College of Art and Design alumna, novelist, playwright, and songwriter. Ina has over fifteen years of experience teaching in after school, camp, and art school settings. Her classes on Outschool will include a variety of storytelling courses such as song, creative, and screen writing. She will also have class for the youngest learners in basic ballet.
Ina's goal as an instructor is to make sure students not only learn, but feel empowered by what they learn. Students should walk away from classes feeling they learned enough to go out and create on their own, or build on their knowledge base.
Ina's novel The House We Built is available online. Her 15 minute 3 act play The Thief was the first of the Role Call's Atlanta Micro Theater productions, and her work with creator Royce Bable on his one of a kind one-man show Not Here Right Now helped earn the piece its spot in the 2019 Hollywood Fringe Festival where she directed the show's 1-week run.
