Class Experience

Beginning with story time, I will read "Sir Cumference & the Dragon of Pi" by Cindy Neuschwander. Then with a video clip on pi, we will examine the importance of 3.14. We will discuss what it is, why it is formed, and why it is important to understand. The students will then explore pi using circles found in their environment. The students will calculate the diameter and circumference of these objects. (PDF provided before the start of class.) Finally, I will provide a link enrichment activity for after class to continue the study of pi. This is a great introduction into pi, or a good review, for anyone who needs it.

Hello from Texas! Although I am currently residing in Texas, we move quite often and that has allowed me to have many different types of career experiences. I have tutored privately and through well-known organizations; taught in the public school classroom setting with a self-contained classroom (including 4th grade and Texas History); substituted and interned in private school classroom settings; instructed at the community college level (History); assisted with museum operations; and homeschooled my three munchkins. I have worked with early education all the way up to the community college level. My Bachelors is in childhood education with a Master's in American History.
