Class Experience

In this introductory class, students will learn the names of different cell parts and their functions through pictures, slides, books, and discussion. Students will make a model of the cell using a cookie to represent the cell and different edible toppings to represent the different organelles. As students learn about the specific organelles and their functions, they will predict which topping we will use to represent that organelle in our cookie model.

*** This model can easily be made with playdoh or miscellaneous art supplies, or drawn, if that is the learner's preference.

Learning Goals

Students will learn the names of cell organelles and their functions and identify the parts of their model that represent each organelle.
