Semester-Long French Conversation and Writing Practise (Teens -- Intermediate)

This semester-long class gives young people the chance to practise their French conversational and writing skills, with some brushing up on grammar and vocabulary. Every week we will talk about a different topic in class, giving learners an opportunity to build confidence in a new area of discussion and vocabulary through conversation and writing opportunities. This class relies heavily on interaction, so learners should come prepared to chat, as well as listen to others! 

Learners will be required to prepare an item of their choice before each class to prepare for the class discussion. Each learner will read a book or article, or watch a film or video or their choice, and prepare a written summary to bring to class. During class, each student will discuss the item they have prepared, and there will be an opportunity for class discussion around the topic. In order to participate in this class, students will be expected to come to class with their materials already prepared, and to be ready for discussion and interaction in the class. 

NOTE: Learners using a book or TV series as their material will be expected to advance in that book or TV series and discuss a different area/chapter/episode each week. 
 
This class is geared towards intermediate level learners of the French language. However, for learners with less comfort with the language, they can prepare before class by coming up with the ideas they want to talk about, and the vocabulary they plan to use, for that week's discussion topic. For more advanced learners, I recommend less preparation, so they can have a more authentic language-speaking experience every week. 

This class can be taken as a compliment to an educational component at school; as an opportunity for heritage language learners to brush up on and practise their French vocabulary, usage and exposure to other accents; or as a support to a homeschooling or self-learning student's individual efforts in learning the language.
