This will be a one-time class in the art of creative visual journaling. This technique is gaining popularity on many social media platforms including TikTok and Instagram and is a wonderful way for children of any age to use their creativity to journal their thoughts and ideas. Below you will find a list of suggested supplies, which we will use to create our journal pages as a group. After creating a page, we will discuss what we would like to write in our journal for that day. Students are encouraged to share whatever they are comfortable with, but will not be required to share anything they would like to keep private. This type of journaling is a healthy way for any child to express their big and small feelings. This class is appropriate for all ability levels. Suggested supplies for this class include: 3 or more colors of card stock or construction paper Stickers or cut-outs in at least 3 different designs Glue stick or double-sided tape Colored pencils Your favorite pen for writing (Optional) Washi tape in at least 3 different designs (Optional) Scrapbooking cards (Optional) Printed pictures of people and things you love In our 60 minute class, we will focus on three themes in our journals. Each month, I'll post a new class with different themes! In this class, we'll create pages about: 1. I'm Grateful For... This page will encourage us to always think of reasons we have to be grateful. It is proven that we have the ability to shape our days by beginning with a grateful heart. 2. What Inspires Me On this page learners will be encouraged to journal about people or things that inspire them. They could be inspired to help others, to be creative, to do something special in the future, or to simply be themselves! 3. A Promise To Myself On this page, learners can go in any direction they like, with respect to a promise they've made to themselves. This can be a promise that others know about, or one they keep close to their hearts. Overall, I would like to learners to use this page to see their potential as valuable and hard-working difference makers.
Learning Goals
Students will hone their creativity to find new uses for some of their supplies, while creating layers and textures on their journal pages. We will also explore self-expression when we add our journal entries to our pages.

Teacher expertise and credentials
My name is Denelle, but some of my friends just call me D. I love education on all levels, and I teach in many different ways as well. I am an elementary school paraprofessional, working daily with children on the autism spectrum or with ADHD and learning challenges.
I have also taught anatomy and physiology, business and professionalism skills, pathology, and ethics in a post-secondary allied health school.
I have a passion for self-expression, planning, and creative journaling.
I believe learning is best done through several different teaching styles. Teachers are most successful when they teach to the visual, auditory, verbal and kinesthetic learner as often as possible.
I would love the opportunity to teach your children in anatomy, professionalism, and even the art of bullet journal planning and creative journaling!
Experience
Autism and ADHD: Earning my special education degree and working in SpEd classrooms for the last year.
Anatomy and physiology: Massage Therapist for 10 years. 4 years of adult education experience with a focus on skeletal, muscular, and nervous system anatomy in a wellness-based program.
Professionalism: 4 years of adult education in career planning and training in professional conduct and ethics.
Bullet Journaling: 5 years of personal experience and passion for time management and planning using a customized bullet journaling format.
Creative Journaling: 10 years personal experience in illustrative and creative journaling using a wide variety of supplies and techniques. I have led several small groups of people in exploring this style of journaling for expressing thoughts, feelings, and interpretation of reading material.
