In this ongoing class learners will learn second grade cpalms science standards. Each class will include fun hands on activities to solidify learning!

1 hour per week. Learners will be given worksheets throughout the class that will allow the teacher and learners to gauge their understanding.

US Grade 2
Beginner Level
In this ongoing class learners will learn second grade cpalms science standards. Each class will include fun hands on activities to solidify learning! 

Each class will begin with 10-15 minutes of time discussing the standard of the day and learning about it.  During this time a worksheet may be included to help learners with remembering content.  After the initial discussion a science project or experiment will be completed.  Learners will be asked questions during the project or experiment to help deepen understanding and solidify learning.

The class topics will include:

Week of September 9: Practice of science (science safety and scientific method)
Week of September 16: Practice of science (designing experiments)
Week of September 23: empirical observation and inferences
Week of September 30: comparing observations and results
Week of October 7: identify different landforms and bodies of water
Week of October 14: understand how Earth's surface is shaped
Week of October 21: investigate properties and uses of natural resources
Week of October 28: fall fun
Week of November 4: understand basic elements of water
Week of November 11: observe and describe patterns of weather 
Week of November 18: recognize seasonal changes and their effect on environment
Week of November 25: Thanksgiving fun
Week of December 2: explore and describe changes in matter
Week of December 9: conduct investigations to determine how different materials can be mixed and separated 
Week of December 16: winter science fun


Science supplies for each class will be sent at least one week in advance. Science supply substitutions may not provide the same results. 

Worksheets will also be sent each week.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
While not inherently dangerous science experiments do come with some risk. It is important that all learners follow directions when completing hands on experiments.
Supply List
Teacher will provide supply list and worksheets at least one week before each class.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hello, my name is Ms. Stephanie!  I have been on Outschool for almost 3 years and teaching for the past twelve years.  I have a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and a Minor in Elementary Education. I have been a tutor and a lead classroom teacher for Kindergarten and First Grade.  I love working with children and seeing them learn and grow.  I believe children learn best through having fun and participating in engaging activities.

I also have a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work.  I am able to use this degree to teach learners about emotions, fears, personality, etc.  

I have visited several countries and lived in four different states.  I have two children of my own.
