Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 1
Thank you for taking the time to read this description! This is a one time reading lesson as an introductory for more reading lessons! There is so much to this curriculum, but during this lesson, we will go over the letter M and A as well as saying words the fast way. "The fast way" method is a way to help students sound out words and put them together to make a word! The lesson will be given in a direct instruction approach, specially designed for students struggling in reading. Even if your child isn't struggling, this class would benefit them! I will have a class available for more consistent lessons. I hope to see you there!

Topics that we will cover overtime:

Phonemic Awareness
Letter-Sound Correspondence
Sounding Out of Words
Word Recognition
Vocabulary
Oral Reading Fluency
Comprehension

Hi! My name is Mrs. Gastineau. I am looking forward to teaching! My classroom style is primarily teacher-directed. Direct instruction is high structured, designed to accelerate the learning of students who could be struggling. It involves modeling, structure practice, guided practice, and independent practice. You should see progress in your reading and math skills with this curriculum!
I have been teaching for 9 years. 1 year as a 1st grade teacher and 8 years as an elementary special education teacher. I am specially trained in direct instruction and have seen so much progress in my students at school!
