This class will focus on a student's current literacy level (Words read Per Minute, reading comprehension, writing structure, English Standard Conventions and Spelling) and we will work to for a personalized set of goals to measure your student's growth and monitor progress. My teaching style is based on interactive learning, as the reading and writing prompts are based on their interests. Learners can enjoy a personalized, one-on-one experience as we will read together, track progress together and include personalized incentives. I have 7 years of experience working one on one with adult learners with disabilities and 3 years working in public school systems. From my experiences, learned how to incorporate a curriculum that meets students where they are while having high expectations for them. My first student was diagnosed with autism and Soto's Syndrome and struggled with reading, writing, and digital literacy. Within 6 years, he was able to gain a national fellowship, sit on tri-state panels, and teach other adult learners in their journey to independence. Every learner is different, and I offer a free phone consultation to discuss what your child's needs and interests in order to start off on successful footing.

My name is Erin Eugenia Durkan, and I love teaching. I focus on Digital Literacy, Novel Studies, and Graphic Design. I learned that I loved teaching over eight years ago when I worked with young men on with autism on life skills, reading, and digital literacy. Since then, I have worked in school districts, charters, and one-on-one with students-and led one to win a national fellowship. Something fun about me is that I love the color cobalt blue. My husband is color blind, and can only see yellow and blue, so my wedding dress was bright blue!
