30 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this class, learners will take turns reading passages from Arnold Lobel's classic Frog and Toad stories with a special focus on reading slowly for accuracy and fluency. Class begins with a 5-minute warm-up breathing exercise and a brief introduction to the story of the day. The next 20 minutes are dedicated to reading out loud. Learners will take turns reading passages with coaching and encouragement from the rest of the group. The final 5 minutes are for wrap-up and review. I provide all reading material and present passages via slides. Learners just need to bring their ability to read and a good attitude!
Learning Goals
Students will learn tricks for improving inflection and reading comprehension. In the process, they will practice accepting and providing good critical feedback.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I teach K-12 English Literature, Grammar, and Composition. Poetry and creative writing hold a special place in my heart. I taught for 2 years as an English teacher at a private high school before leaving to have my children. For the past 15 years, I've been a busy homeschooling mom to my own three active learners. From teaching them to read to introducing them to Shakespeare, serving as my kids' primary educator has brought me great joy and satisfaction. For me, nothing beats the thrill of shared discovery through reading and writing. In my free time, I can be found watercolor painting or clearing brush from the yard with my headphones on listening to Audible!
