Finally a public speaking class for AGES 5-9 all about ANIMALS! This is a semi-private, fun, fast-paced interactive public speaking class for beginners! Students practice skills for successful and confident public speaking, such as eye-contact, proper volume and voice inflection, controlled body language and confidence. We will use impromptu topics, such as animals, bugs, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, and more as springboards for our public speaking responses. Each student will have a couple of extended opportunities to speak in front of the group, and receive feedback and gentle prompting and warm encouragement on public speaking techniques. No prior experience is needed. It is my personal goal to make each student feel like a million bucks for their efforts, no matter how new or nervous they may be related to public speaking. This class is limited in size so that everyone gets opportunities to practice both speaking and listening at each class meeting. The goal of the class is to encourage young new speakers, and to build their endurance and confidence speaking in front of others, so topics are very flexible and the conversation is encouraged to follow what the learner is comfortable speaking about. Come practice your speaking skills in a warm, encouraging environment! *CLASS LENGTH OF TIME WILL BE ADJUSTED DOWN TO 20 MINUTES IF ONLY ONE LEARNER IS PRESENT! This is to avoid exhausting a single student, but also to run the class rather than cancelling if there is only one student present that week.
Learning Goals
Students will learn public speaking skills such as eye-contact, proper volume and voice inflection, controlled body language and experience gentle encouragement and open-ended questions to help the learner speak confidently in front of an audience.

WELCOME TO OUTSCHOOL - LEARN WITH ME HEADING INTO 2025 !!!
My classes are NEWLY REVISED and focused on developing strong 💪 and confident learners from preschool on with outstanding reading foundations 📚 and strong speaking skills 🎤for lifelong academic success.
Each class is kept small in size and is intentionally designed to be highly INTERACTIVE and very encouraging for the online learner.
In EVERY class, my goal is to make each learner feel like a million bucks💲 for every effort and contribution a student makes in my class!
As a 20-Year Veteran Homeschool Teacher and mom, I highly value the socialization piece that needs to be a vital part of any homeschool or remote learning experience.
Teaching is my passion, as I have taught in many forums: public school, Christian school, homeschool, and in online education as well. As a home-educator of over 18 years, I taught all 7 of my children how to read with fluency starting at 4 years old and homeschooled them from preschool into college!
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with specialization in Special Education (K-12) w/ Learning Disabilities. I am a certified TESOL teacher for speakers of other languages.
I have a Master's Degree in Educational Administration as well. I bring over 8 years of online teaching experience to my platform with Outschool as an online teacher! I am a homeschooling mother of 7 kids in Kansas who loves to teach all subjects!
The last 25 years of my life have been spent teaching children of all ages in a wide variety of subject areas. I believe that we are always learning, and that learning needs to be engaging with the goal of retaining as much knowledge as we can while growing in our ability to apply new information to our daily lives.
I bring lots of energy and enthusiasm to the classroom, and specialize in encouraging individual critical thinking skills, which just means your student will love engaging with me!
The pillar of my teaching is definitely my upbeat environment and the positive encouragement. Your student will feel confident and supported in all of my classes no matter what skill level he or she is currently working at. I invite you to delve into my public reviews to see how parents have shared their students' experiences in my classroom. I look forward to meeting NEW students in my classes very soon!
