Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
(Class 3 of 4) In this class, we will learn about the Parietal Lobe of the brain. We will discuss what the Parietal Lobe does, what it controls, how somatosensory impacts our Parietal Lobe, functions of the Parietal Lobe, and discuss a "little man" living within us called "Homunculus". Somatosensory and sensations, such as taste, smell, touch, and temperature will be discussed and simplified. A model of the brain will be used to locate the Parietal Lobe. This class is structured with power-point slides that are easy to follow. I believe in teaching the students through experiences rather than memorization. The more the students participate and interact with fellow students and the teacher, the more we will get out of the class. I use a person-centered and positive teaching approach. All that is required of this class a piece of paper, pen/pencil, and to be ready to have fun. Let's have fun and dive into the complex world of the human brain!

Learning Goals

The student will learn the location of the Parietal Lobe, functions, and fun facts. The student will learn about somatosensory and the "little man" living within us called "Homunculus" and the senses responsible within the Parietal Lobe.
