US Grade 3 - 6
This is a one on one tutoring class for language arts, meant to help individual learners with reading and listening comprehension, writing skills, creative writing, as well as encouraging public speaking through reading their own writing. Sometimes a student just needs a different approach or some individual help in order to excel and flourish in a given area. I have activities to help students enjoy learning. When students are happy and engaged, as well as in a positive environment, they are more apt to learn. Many students need help understanding or practicing different aspects of language arts. We will focus on the needs of the learner so he/she gets this needed help in specific areas. I want the learners to experience the fun and joy of creativity as we write stories together and individually. They will learn the tips for public speaking and be able to read their own work with expression. It is also important for students to be able to read text and discuss the main points of the articles and stories. If needed/desired, students can submit stories or writing assignments to me for proof-reading, grammar or sentence structure corrections, and I will provide written feedback and tips. If your student needs help with homework, a workbook, or specific assignments, please let me know and send me a copy of the homework or assignments. I would be happy to assist with whatever would be most helpful for the student. I want to connect with the learners and let them know that I care about them individually and and want them to succeed. Learners or parents should send a message upon enrollment to discuss the needs of the learner (specifying areas that come easy for the student as well as areas in which the student struggles).
Learning Goals
I want students to feel comfortable and confident with the different aspects of language arts. They will learn how to watch for context clues and discuss the important points of the text.
