Description
Class Experience
NOTE: All of my classes have unique lessons - none of the material is repeated, so you may sign up for any of my classes without worrying about duplication. Teaching material and vocabulary words are only used again every 2 years to assure learners that they will always be taught something new. If you feel that this class is too advanced, or not quite advanced enough for your child, I have classes to fit those needs. Please check out the other classes in my profile if you feel that a change...
Learners will: • Increase their vocabulary by learning new words and definitions. • Expand their creative writing skills. • Write short stories and build their personal story notebooks. • Share their stories and practice their public speaking skills if they choose to do so. • Take part in their learning by submitting words or prompts if desired. • Make friends and feel comfortable and confident in our class.
I am a certified teacher and previously taught in a public school. I enjoy teaching and learning with the students. I am excited to help spark an interest for writing in my students.
There is no homework required outside of class. However, I encourage learners to continue writing their stories during the week if they would like to do so. They are also welcome to send photos or type their stories and send them to me. I will read them and make comments. I have found that students like to contribute to their own learning. If the student would like to submit a new vocabulary word or a story prompt, I encourage this! They can do this by sending a message directly to me through the classroom.
Learners will need a pencil and paper for new words/definitions. They may choose to use a notebook to keep everything together if they would like. They may want a notebook for their stories and writings with a separate paper or notebook for their words/definitions - it is just personal preference.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
