I love teaching one on one, because I can tailor my lessons specifically to the learner's strengths and needs, enabling faster progress and a deeper understanding of the material.   

Each class meeting will follow a similar pattern, so that the learner will know what to expect. 
We will open up class with a Phonics Warm Up. This warm up will include some of the following each week: 
- Letter/sound practice
- Identifying vowels by sound
- Manipulating letters in words to make new words
- Sounding out simple words (when the student is ready for this)
-  Identifying sight words
- Guided reading of a decodable reader (when the student is ready for this)
- Introduction of a new letter sound or concept

My goal is that the learner perceives my class as something fun that they "get to do" as opposed to something that they "have to get through". With that in mind, we will spend the second half of our class time in the "game room" where I have placed a variety of literacy activities that I have made to feel like "games" to the learner. Beginning Sound Memory, Alliteration Silly Sentences, Rhyming "Eye Spy" and Antonym Bingo are just a few examples.

IMSE Orton Gillingham Virtual Slides will be used for instruction. I have permission from IMSE to use these for this class. Reading A-Z texts will be used for a teacher-read-aloud. I have permission from Reading A-Z to use these for this class.

I am Orton-Gillingham trained through IMSE for K-2.
