Homework
1 hour per week. Students will be asked to practice eye-tracking and eye convergence exercises at home if it was apart of the session. If student wishes to read a book together, there might be some homework assignments of reading before the next session.Class Experience
US Grade 2 - 5
This class is to require a reading instructor to help your student with either the ability to read and/or increase their reading comprehension. Each session will be subjected to individual needs of the student and their reading goals. 8 weeks is the minimum but can be extended for more weeks to meet. Techniques that are used will include practice in eye tracking movement exercises/games, phonics, English grammar, paragraph summaries, compare/contrast information, order of events sequencing, character and plot identification, and intro to literary analysis. All dependent on student reading level and reading goals. I work with the students/parents in order to create a personalized schedule of curriculum for each student I tutor. This can be for either fiction or nonfiction reading comprehension. Please note that if you do not see a schedule time listed that I am happy to work with schedule requests for accommodation. Scheduled times listed does NOT mean the only times available. Please send in a time request if interested.

Parental Guidance
If the student wishes to read a book together, I will always provide content warnings of topics within the book. This is to have all three (parent, tutor, and student) be in agreement and understanding of what the student is reading.
Paragraph summaries will be of excerpts of academic approved paragraphs for the reading level of the student if a book is not chosen of interest.
Pre-Requisites
Students should be able to identify English alphabet, numbers, and simple words as prerequisites.
Supply List
Any book that a student is interested in. Otherwise, the teacher will provide material for reading.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I have a B.A. in English with a minor in TESOL. I have worked as a private tutor for children and adults in learning English as a second language the past 7 years with 4 of them being online with Outschool. English tutoring includes help with phonics and reading.
I have worked in a library the past 2 years helping with literacy programs for children.
I also have personal experience in losing my ability to read from an eye injury and having to work back up the stamina in my eyes to gain back my reading proficiency. I hope this can help encourage/inspire students to the challenge and joy of learning to read. Reviews
