This class is for ALL people regardless of skill level!! In this ongoing class your child will learn everything about debate, from the basic skills needed to begin, to the advanced skills needed to confidently and skillfully be the best they can be within their respective circuit. I specialize in LD and Congressional debate but I can also teach extemporaneous and general forms of debate! Topics covered will include (but are not limited to) -Case research and construction -Evidence research and cutting -Cross examination skills -Debate Decorum -Rebuttal formulation -Tricks and strategy It is important to note that because this is a one on one class, your child or yourself can request specific topics you would like covered and I will tailor my curriculum per your needs. I teach in an interactive way. This means that your child will be encouraged to participate and engage with the lesson. Through mock debates, debate drills, games, videos, and more, your child will actively speak and debate with myself in order to create, refine, and build crucial skills needed in order to succeed in LD debate and debate itself.
Learning Goals
Each student will be able to confidently and coherently build, support, and successfully defend their topics and cases. My hope is that each student will be able to build crucial public speaking skills and confident in their debate abilities.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello!
I currently teach classes on debate, speech, and public speaking skills!
I am so excited to teach your learner about these topics, and more.
I have experience working with kids through volunteer services that engage new students with high school life. I competed as one of the top 10% of debaters in the nation at the 2024 National Speech and Debate tournament. I also served as Lincoln Douglas debate captain last year, fostering a very successful novice team!
I believe that every child learns in a different way, which means that I can -and will- change my curriculum based on what each learner desires and needs. I also believe that learning should be fun! No one wants to sit in a boring lecture, so my classes are both engaging and active!!
Something fun about myself is that I have a yorkie named "Ted" because he looks like a teddy bear!
