What's included
Group experience
Is your daughter struggling to make long lasting friendships? Are they generally shy or nervous around their peers? Maybe you just want to help your daughter grow into a social butterfly. In this group, girls in middle school and high school will have the opportunity to engage with other girls their age! This group gives girls the ability to receive help with their homework and school assignments, safely participate in group discussions on any topic which interests them, and create long lasting real friendships with other girls in this group. Activities we will do include but are not limited to: -weekly check-ins to ensure that participants are doing well in school -every other week discussion topics (prompts) to help foster conversation and critical thinking -"Girl-Up" discussions (service discussions) where we talk about difficulties girls in underdeveloped countries face, as well as ways in which we can serve our communities. These activities help ensure that learners are able to really interact with those within the group, and help to promote activity and (such as with the weekly check-ins) responsibility.
Learning Goals
Create long lasting friendships with other girls of similar age.
Be able to engage in discussions about challenges girls face around the world.
Other Details

Guidelines
Welcome to our Group! We want all of our learners to feel comfortable, connected, and safe. That's why we have 3 rules we ask you to follow: Be Kind, Be Safe, and Be Respectful.
Be Kind - Help all learners feel welcome and included.
Learners from all over the world, with different backgrounds, races, ethnicities, abilities, gender identities, religions and body types, participate in our Group. Always be nice and make others, especially new learners, know that they belong and are welcome. Teasing, name calling, or bullying anybody in our community? Nope. Not happening here
Be Safe - Keep your personal information private and never ask other learners for theirs.
Personal things are personal. We want to keep you safe on Outschool, but we also want YOU to understand how to be safe when you're meeting other learners or teachers. Keep your full name, home address, gaming or social media name, email, and school name private.
Be Respectful - Treat others how you want to be treated.
Keep language clean and information you share safe. If you wouldn't say it or share with your grandma, don't do it here. Swear words, racy videos, and violent images are not allowed. Treat Outschool like a public place, and when in doubt, keep things covered.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello!
I currently teach classes on debate, speech, and public speaking skills!
I am so excited to teach your learner about these topics, and more.
I have experience working with kids through volunteer services that engage new students with high school life. I competed as one of the top 10% of debaters in the nation at the 2024 National Speech and Debate tournament. I also served as Lincoln Douglas debate captain last year, fostering a very successful novice team!
I believe that every child learns in a different way, which means that I can -and will- change my curriculum based on what each learner desires and needs. I also believe that learning should be fun! No one wants to sit in a boring lecture, so my classes are both engaging and active!!
Something fun about myself is that I have a yorkie named "Ted" because he looks like a teddy bear!
