Class Experience

Let's learn real debate skills with ridiculous topics!

We'll use critical thinking to present and defend our positions on such critical issues as if a hamburger is a sandwich or if soup is a cereal.

In this collaborative and fun environment, we will learn how to make a position and defend it. Learners will need to listen and strategize effective counter arguments to make sure their position comes out on top! This is the perfect place to get over a fear of speaking in public. Just like my improv classes, we will always support each other and offer positive feedback and encouragement....even when we are on opposite sides of an issue!

We will play sometimes in teams.....and sometimes alone. We'll look at Lincoln-Douglas debate format as well as engage in free form wrangling. Some debates might take the whole meeting time...others just a few minutes.

Topics can be both learner provided and instructor generated.

We've recently debated if it's better to travel forward or backward in time, what the best superpower would be, and if rhinos are actually unicorns.

Please reach out with any questions, and I'll look forward to debating something relatively inconsequential with you soon!
