US Grade Kindergarten - 2
Beginner Level
In this private class, your child will learn to read at a first-grade level. The class meets for 30 minutes, and I recommend two sessions per week; however, your child can set the pace! In each class, students will learn one new phonics concept, in addition to other foundational reading skills: phonological awareness, visual practice, auditory practice, letter formation (writing), word work, irregular words, and reading connected text. This instruction is for advanced kindergarten to first-grade students who have already learned letter names and sounds. This course is also great for ESL students and those who are struggling with reading. We will use whiteboards for word work and letter formation practice. Therefore, students should have a basic ability to write letters. *Please send me a message if your child needs accommodations in this area. I can easily adapt the class to meet their needs by using a set of magnetic letters to form and manipulate words. In the First 12 sessions (Semester 1) we'll cover: 1. Short A Review )Incl. Nasalized A) 2. Short I Review 3. Short O Review 4. Short U Review 5. Short E Review 6. Short Vowels Review All 7. FLSZ Spelling Rule (ff, ll,ss, zz) 8. -all, -oll, -ull 9. ck 10. sh 11.
