Spalding Writing Road to Reading Kindergarten Semester Class.

The students will engage in a hands-on fun activity in the first few weeks that will help them learn the single letters names and the phonics sounds as well as the two, three, and four letter phonogram sounds for in the Spalding Writing Road to Reading Phonics Method.   The teacher will guide each student to memorize the sounds of the letters as well as extend their learning by using the sounds they are learning to create words and read words. 

Students will first learn the sound or sounds of the letter and then roll the modeling clay or play dough out and construct the letter shape following the outline on the mat provided by the teacher.  The teacher will then introduce each of the vocabulary words on the letter page to practice pronouncing the sound in each word.  On the mat there is also a picture for each of the vocabulary words which will help the student identify and pronounce the words. 
 After learning the sounds of each letter the student will also learn how to write each letter and eventually learn how to put the letters together to make words.
