US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
In consecutive lessons the students will memorize the 70 phonograms and then learn to properly write the letters. The students will then prepare a notebook of words by oral dictation, written practice, and reading of the words they are writing. The first 1000 words the students will place in their notebooks will account for 85% of the most frequently used words in reading the English language. In class the student will hear, see, write, and read the phonograms which activates 4 of the sensory pathways. The students will also learn parts of speech, prefixes, suffixes, base and word roots, language rules, and compositions. Yes, even young children can create short compositions. Each student will progress at their own pace and eventually when Teacher Dayna and the parents agree the student will be encouraged to join a small group of students in a class setting with students of the same age to work together to create sentences, paragraphs, and individual works of composition.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Oklahoma Baptist University
I have significant experience teaching both elementary age children and teenagers. After receiving my teaching degree in Elementary Education I taught second grade in a brick and mortar classroom for 7 years. When I started my family I chose to quit teaching, but I was able to continue tutoring local students. When my children reached school age our family became a homeschool family. As a homeschool mom I have taught not only my children, but I have taught in local Co-op's. While teaching at home and in the Co-ops I created my own curriculum and also used a purchased curriculum. I tried to teach my classes in a way that would meet the academic objectives for each student, but also be interactive and fun. I have my TESOL and am confident in teaching in an online classroom as I have taught over 6800 online English as a Second Language classes to children 3-18. Another area of expertise I have is 35mm and digital photography and how to correctly preserve all of our photographs in proper scrapbooks with safe products for future generations. In this day and age most photos don't make it off of a person's phone, let alone into a scrapbook where people can actually enjoy and remember moments in their lives. As a homeschool teacher I facilitated students for 7 years in a yearbook class to create a digital yearbook for their peers and taught hundreds of women in gatherings around the country to preserve their pictures by properly placing them in safe albums using photo safe products. Based on my experience and my passion to teach, I am confident in my abilities to create a classroom environment that is inviting, educational, fun, and interactive, whether I have one student or multiple students. I am looking forward to meeting your student and helping them engage in a class that will guide them in learning new skills, as well as build confidence and facilitate independent learning.
