Class Experience
This course was designed with the asynchronous learner in mind! Oodles of Doodles Flex Edition is taught over 1 week. Students will be able to access four different recordings of how to do three specific doodle motifs in this class. Students will then practice and create their own doodle drawings using the techniques and submit to the classroom to share with other students. This gives an opportunity for teacher feedback as well! I am also available to answer questions via the classroom in outschool. I will check in with students mid week to see how they are doing and how their progress is coming. Students can also request a time for video conferencing if they would like to discuss or to share their final products either weekly or a cumulative "showing" at the end of the four weeks. This is a fun, low key course for the student that likes to draw or doodle! All four lessons will be posted the Sunday evening before the Monday start of the class. Lesson 1 covers how to make "Rapunzel's Hair" a favorite doodle that has a myriad of iterations. Lesson 2 teaches how to create "Majestic Mountains"--a doodle that utilizes pattern and color to create an unusual picture Lesson 3 focuses on how to take the student's name and doodle around it in such a way that makes it interesting and fun. Lesson 4 gives a variety of smaller doodles (predominantly with a plant theme) and also a tutorial on how to create a banner. Please check out my accompanying flex course More Oodles of Doodles (flex edition)!!
Learning Goals
Students will be able to experience creativity while they doodle. They will also learn about how unexpected iterations make doodles interesting or unusual.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there!
My name is Patti Shivers and I’ve been a teacher for over 30 years!
I LOVE teaching. I love showing students how to do things they dont know how to do and help them master it. I enjoy seeing them feel accomplished and proud of themselves and also for them to realize their potential!
I have taught Mathematics in grades 7-12 and also have taught self contained classes of 5th and 6th grade during my career.
I love to doodle! Im that person who always has a pen in their hand and is sketching or drawing while listening. Its actually something helps me take notes and stay focused.
Doodling is such a fun way to exercise creativity and an bring joy to those who are creating! Art, and being a creator of it, is so good for your mind! Many times when we doodle it gives the doodler an opportunity to process thoughts, feelings and emotions!
Fun fact about me is that I love love love animals and am crazy about our two cats!!
