Class Experience
US Grade 2 - 5
Beginner - Advanced Level
This class is designed to help your learner with any material that they are finding challenging OR in need of extensions and more difficulty. During the first week, your student and I will talk about their school experience and what they are hoping to gain from their sessions with me. I will also give them some basic logic puzzles as a way for me to begin determining what type of learning strategies will work best for them. In the following weeks, depending on the goals, wants, and needs that we talk about in the first week, your student and I will engage in conversations, lessons, and projects to help them succeed. I look forward to helping your student improve in any variety of areas including Elementary Math, Writing, Science, and Social Studies. I am also available to help older students who are having difficulties in any life science courses including biology, zoology, or geology.
Learning Goals
Problem Solving Strategies for when material seems hard.
Critical Thinking Skills to help them challenge themselves when material seems to simple for them.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have worked with elementary school students both in and out of the classroom for over a decade. During that time I have engaged with students who both struggled to grasp certain concepts as well as those who needed frequent extension to remain engaged. I have degrees in Elementary Education, Middle School Science, as well as a Masters Degree in Curriculum Writing and Implementation. I have taught 4th grade for 7 years as well as 1 year of second grade. During this time I have also worked closely with teachers in adjacent grades to ensure that students are provided and unbroken thread of education from year to year.
During my time as a teacher, I have encountered and worked with students with multiple learning and behavioral styles including ADHD, ADD, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, ODD as more. I make make sure that each student that I work with receives my full attention as well as the instruction and guidance required for them to be successful in learning. I also am a strong believer in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and helping students identify their emotions and how they play a role in learning.
Over the summer, I work at an all boys summer camp where I run an outdoors program. While there, I work with campers to build their confidence, life skills, social skills as well as community building.
