One of These Is Not Like the Others: A Number Sense and Logic Activity

I want learners to see that math can be more that just right or wrong and one answer only. In this class students will be given a set of four numbers and will be challenged to find a number that is "different from" the other three. This is an opportunity for thinking outside of the box. There is actually more that one acceptable answer. The only condition is that the answer choice must be supported by a logical reason. 

Learners will take turns sharing the number they chose and the reason for choosing it. I love discussion and encourage mics on as long as everyone can still hear the speaker. 

Learners with a solid knowledge of math facts will likely get more out of the class.
