I will communicate (by email) your child's progress after class and recommend any necessary steps for your child to gain confidence in the math topic that we covered.Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 3
In this weekly 45-minute private tutoring session (I also have a 25-minute session), I will help build your learner's confidence in math. Many young children struggle with math and have a hard time catching up if they have fallen behind. Or your learner may gain confidence by learning these math skills before they encounter them at school. Let's work together to get them feeling more confident and enjoying math! I will work one on one with your child. I ask that you sign up for a session at least two days prior so that I may make a specific math plan tailored to your child's needs. We will communicate about your child's needs and how they learn best. I may use props, visuals, animated power point slides, and we may write on the virtual whiteboard together, depending on the topic that we cover. After class, I will communicate your child's progress and recommend any necessary steps to achieve your child's math goal. We got this! Let's have fun while learning math. Some of the math topics for first and second graders: -Place value -Skip counting -Addition and subtraction -Multiplication -Telling time (analog and digital clocks) -Word Problems -Money -2D and 3D shapes -Math fact families (relationship between addition/subtraction and multiplication/division)
Learning Goals

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Mount Holyoke College
Hello! My name is Erin Howard. I love teaching young learners. My passion is to help your young learner gain the knowledge and confidence in their basic math skills. My math classes focus on skills such as solving word problems, learning math fact families, place value, telling time, geometry, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
I have my bachelor’s degree from Mount Holyoke College. I have owned a home daycare, privately tutored students in math, and was a teaching assistant in college. I have taught over 8,000 classes online.
My goal is to bring fun, excitement, and passion into my classroom. It is important for young learners to be engaged, actively participate, and enjoy learning. This builds the foundation of how they will view their journey for knowledge in the future. I know I have accomplished this goal when my students continue to return to my classroom, and I see their personal improvement and how proud they are of their progress.
Outside of work, I am a mother of five children, and I have three grandchildren. My children are my pride and joy. My youngest two children are twins. They are nineteen years old and they are sophomores in college. We enjoy cooking, baking, playing with our dog, watching movies, shopping, and taking trips to visit new places.
I look forward to this journey with you and your young learner. I will see you in the classroom.
