Class Experience

In this 25-minute class, the learner will work to name the items in the mystery basket. I will put one item in the mystery basket while the learner asks questions that can be answered with "Yes," "No," or "Maybe." If a learner is struggling to come up with a question, I will offer a suggestion. Learners can also guess the item at any time, keeping in mind that they get 20 questions before I tell them the answer. After an item is named correctly, I will share a little-known fun fact or two about the item. If time allows, I will either introduce more items or we will play a game involving critical thinking. Some of the items I may include in the basket are: sports ball, toy car, snowman toy, food toy, animal toy, school items, and more!

Please note that your learner should be able to sit and participate in a lesson for 25 minutes to be successful in this class. Feel free to reach out if you would like help to determine if this class is a good fit for your learner. I hope to meet your learner soon!

I am an elementary school counselor with 18 years of experience. I also teach on other online platforms - VIPKID, Cambly, and Zebra English. During my school counseling career, I've taught many topics in classrooms including self-esteem, coping skills, anger management, social skills, and more. I've also had the pleasure of running clubs based on topics of dinosaurs, unicorns, math, writing, and much more! Being able to share my interests with my students is a luxury!

In Outschool, some of the classes I plan on teaching will include topics on dinosaurs, unicorns, self-esteem, mindfulness, relaxation, coping skills, anger management, social skills, K-2nd grade math, and writing. I truly enjoy teaching these topics and look forward to working with your student!

My teaching style is interactive and learner-focused. I often use power points, stories I've written, discussions, and games in my lessons! I believe that teaching should not only help students learn about the topic being taught but that it should also be engaging and fun!

In my free time, I enjoy hiking, reading, playing with my son and our dog, exercising, and traveling. I believe life is meant to be lived and enjoyed to the fullest!
